Origami robots

Working with MIT and the Tokyo Institute of Technology, Dana Damian at the Sheffield Biomedical Robotics Lab has been creating incredible world-first miniature robots that can perform functions in the body without the need for surgery.

These have possible applications for delivering specialised, localised drugs - but also can use magnets to help remove batteries accidentally swallowed by children, or patch wounds.
