With two world class Universities in the city we are incredible happy to share our city with those who come here for their studies - especially because a lot of them stay!
However, it's not just the universities that make us a learning city.
Learn Sheffield is a not for profit schools company which is focussed on school improvement and owned by Sheffield’s schools and colleges (who own 80%) in partnership with Sheffield City Council (who own 20%). They exist to ensure that Sheffield children receive the best education in the country, so that our young people’s achievement and readiness enables them to be active citizens of a world class city.
We also have prestigious colleges in the city - Sheffield College are a vocation based institution with over 16,000 students (nearly 3,000 of which are apprentices), whilst there are two University Technical Colleges (one in the city centre, and one on Sheffield Olympic Legacy Park) specialising in fields which really complement the city's strengths:
